Mike DeMora | President and Director of Education


Mike has helped athletes from the NBA, NHL, PGA, MLB, and NFL as well as ordinary people get the most from their bodies. Mike had been the Director of Education for the prestigious Spectrum Health Clubs for over 6 years. He holds two Masters Degrees in Education and Sports Science and is close to becoming a Doctor of Naturopathy.


Adam James | Vice President and Director of Development

Adam James is the Vice President and Director of Development for the National College of Exercise Professionals. He is also the President and Founder of Rainbow Warrior Martial Arts and the co-creator of the NCEP - Rainbow Warrior Martial Arts MMA Trainer Certification. Adam is an Advanced Personal Trainer through the National College of Exercise Professionals and has also been certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, USA Gymnastics and Hawaii Special Olympics.

Adam specializes in functional training, athletic training, martial arts conditioning, Olympic lifting, plyometrics, speed and power training, gymnastics, sport specific training, running technique, flexibility training (basic to advanced stretching) and mental fitness/sports psychology (meditation, positive affirmations, visualization, psychoneuroimmunology and peak performance). Adam attended Punahou School in Honolulu, HI and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where he was a scholarship student athlete and varsity football letterman, playing under the first two African American Head Coaches ever in the Big 10 Conference, Dennis Green and Francis Peay. In addition, Adam is a former Fitness Manager for the Sports Club Company at the Spectrum Club-Canoga Park and was the Fitness Center Director at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Honolulu, HI. which was co-founded by Duke Kahanumoku.

As the founder of Rainbow Warrior Martial Arts, Adam is an instructor of Kempo, Karate, Kung Fu, Wei Kuen Do, Jujitsu, Mauy Thai Kickboxing, MMA, Boxing, Wrestling, Escrima, Kenjutsu and Kobudo (weapons). Adam is the successor for Grandmaster Leo Fong in the styles of Wei Kuen Do, Chi Fung and Modern Escrima and holds the highest black belt possible in Hawaii Shin Kan Okinawan Kempo Karate under Professor Michael Dela Vega. Adam's mentor is Leo Fong, (, action film star, writer, director, Black Belt Hall of Fame member, Bruce Lee's friend and training partner and author of numerous books including "Beyond Kung Fu," "Wei Kuen Do: the Psycho Dynamic Art of Free Fighting," "Strategies for Winning in Kung Fu and Karate," and "Knockout Punching." Adam has also studied with Dr. Kam Yuen, internationally renowned Grandmaster of Shaolin Kung Fu and the revolutionary Chinese Energetic Medicine technique called Yuen Method ( Kam Yuen was the martial arts consultant and choreographer for the television show "Kung Fu" and teacher to David Carradine, Michael Jackson and many other celebrities. In addition, Adam is the former Director of Marketing and Business Development for World Black Belt, a martial arts website and media company Founded by Check Norris, Bob Wall, Gene LeBell and 50 of the world's greatest martial artists. During his time with World Black Belt, Adam worked closely with many of the finest martial artists in the world and created numerous new programs, including the Junior World Black Club (the children's program), the WBB-Nutrition program, the WBB-Travel program and the WBB-Business program.

As an actor, Adam is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and performed in the films "Under Siege" with Steven Seagal and "Steal Big/Steal Little" with Andy Garcia. He is currently playing the lead role in a television pilot entitled "East of West," and has worked as a martial arts film consultant and fight choreographer. Adam is the nephew of the late Hal James, Tony Award winning Broadway Producer of "Man of La Mancha" and "Jallelujah Baby" and grew up in the theater community. He has studied Method Acting, the Meisner technique and Improvisational Acting. He is also the co-creator of the Action Film Workshop for Movies By Kids, a special training program for children to learn stunt fight choreography and directing action films and has written articles for Black Belt and Masters Magazine.

Barry M. Goldenberg | Chief Strategist and Media Director

As a certified trainer through the NCEP, Barry has been living NCEP’s model for health and fitness for almost a decade, with a new goal of expanding NCEP’s cutting-edge approach for aspiring personal trainers on the East Coast. Barry holds a B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), and an M.A. in Education from Columbia University in the City of New York.

During his time at UCLA, Barry served as Head Manager for the UCLA Men’s Tennis Team, working with, and learning from, some of the country’s finest collegiate coaches and athletes. As a trainer, Barry worked privately across the Los Angeles Area, particularly focusing on athletic performance with young athletes, while also gaining vital knowledge for navigating the burgeoning fitness industry.

An NCEP instructor for the Standard Certification course in New York City, Barry’s pedagogical paradigm relies on teaching future trainers to internalize the notion of a healthy lifestyle. In his Standard Certification course, he describes to would-be trainers how to effectively funnel their knowledge of the NCEP curriculum into professional success by giving them the tools to do what matters most: helping their clients look better, feel healthier, and live happier lives.

Outside of his work with the NCEP, Barry is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Education at Columbia University, and continues to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle—he believes that in order to teach about it, he has to live it himself. As Buddha once wisely said, “To keep the body in good health is a duty, for otherwise we shall not be able to trim the lamp of wisdom, and keep our mind strong and clear.”

Dr. Charles Foltz | Director of Research


Dr. Charles Foltz holds a Doctoral Degree in Interdisciplinary Molecular and Cellular Biology and a Masters of Public Health Degree in Epidemiology from Tulane University, and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Molecular Neuroscience from the University of California at Santa Barbara. In addition, he holds a range of fitness certifications.

Dr. Foltz is the Vice President of Research and Development at eHealth Screenings and a Senior Project Officer at Hip Hop Public Health. He is the creator of 360 Cardio and partnered with Polar Heart Rate Monitors and Total Health Interactive (THI). In addition, he is a strength and conditioning coach and professional triathlon coach and manager. Charles is currently a faculty member at Wexford University, teaching subjects such as General, Organic and Biochemistry and Advanced Exercise Physiology.

Charles' education includes a Masters of Public Health Degree in Epidemiology and Doctoral Degree in Interdisciplinary Molecular and Cellular Biology from Tulane University and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Molecular Neuroscience from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has earned certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS),the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and the National College of Exercise Professionals (NCEP) as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).

Dean Lelm | Regional Education Coordinator


Dean has his BS in Physical Education and Masters Degree in Exercise Science/Education, from Minot State University in North Dakota. Dean also holds a degree in Massage Therapy and has experience in sports medicine and physical therapy. Dean has been training a wide variety of individuals for over 20 years. His clientele includes; fitness enthusiasts, professional athletes, clients with disabilities, youth and the aging population. Dean worked in an Exercise Physiology Department where he was the head strength and conditioning coach for area high school athletes in ND for 15 years before moving to Redondo Beach, CA.

As a Certified Trainer and Holistic Nutritionist through the NCEP, Dean’s goal is to expand the NCEP’s practical approach for aspiring personal trainers throughout the United States. Since moving to Redondo Beach, he continued working as a personal trainer as well as becoming the fitness manager for a high end health club. Dean has also served as an instructor of the NASM curriculum at a local college.

Dean first became interested in health and fitness when he was competing as a collegiate athlete in basketball. He has personally experienced the benefits of health and fitness and also gets great joy out of “teaching it forward.” He enjoys sharing and educating others about NCEP’s approach to fitness. He truly sees how fitness should be more fun, not more work.

Zack Rissman | Director of NCEP International

Zack Rissman is certified by the National College of Exercise Professionals as an Advanced Personal Trainer and currently serves as the Director of Marketing for NCEP.

Zack started as an independent personal trainer in 1987 in Los Gatos, Ca. Obsessed with guiding his clients to their goals rapidly, he began studying various different types of training, kinesiology, motivational psychology, and the like. Within months clients were paying for big packages of sessions in advance, and going on a waiting list!

In 1996, Zack was hired on with a small chain of clubs as Director. Thriving as an educator of staff in member results, sales, and customer service, Zack soon had six clubs that he was overseeing. Fascinated with the health club industry as a whole, he excelled in each segment from operations, staffing, revenue, service, etc.

Gregory S. Weber | Regional Instructor (Las Vegas/Southwest)

Gregory is Owner and Founder of and Principal Health and Fitness Coach and Trainer at Embody Lifestyle and Weight Management. Gregory has worked in health and fitness and health and fitness coaching, training, and instruction and has been pioneering better ways for for himself and others for more than twenty years.

Nadine Young | Director of Pre-Post Natal Training program

Nadine has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiolgy from California State University - Northridge, and also has a personal trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She has successfully completed the NCEP Holistic Health Practitioner program and is certified by NCEP as an Advanced Personal Trainer and Holistic Nutritionist.

Fitness has been a lifelong pursuit for Nadine. From a very early age Nadine has been involved in numerous physically demanding activities which have included dance, snowboarding, horseback riding, and gymnastics. At age 12 Nadine studied with the American Academy of Ballet at the prestigious Vassar College in New York.

Nadine has been training clients since 2001, when she began working at Spectrum Athletic Club in Santa Clarita, CA. While at Spectrum, Nadine desired to help her clients work toward optimal health through exercise and a holistic approach to nutrition and healing. Nadine has attained this goal through constant study and research during which time she has received numerous certifications from several of the most recognized sanctioning bodies in the industry. In 2008, Nadine was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Northridge. Nadine then went on to apply her skills as the owner of her own company which specializes in weight loss, muscle definition, injury recovery, and endurance training through weekly boot camps, corporate wellness programs, and personal sessions. In all these instances, Nadine has worked to help clients achieve their personal goals by developing attainable and realistic workout programs resulting in them reaching optimal health, to decrease or eliminate the need for prescription medications, drop unwanted weight, and lower their cholesterol. Nadine has worked with clients across a wide demographic; from ages 7 to 78 and have included regular gym clients, elite athletes, and corporate and entertainment industry professionals.

Lara Scheunemann | Director of Pilates Program

Lara is the Director of the Pilates Program for the National College of Exercise Professionals. She is certified in Pilates by the Body Arts and Science Institute (BASI) and studied directly under Rael Isocowitz, the President and Founder of BASI. Lara also studied under Karen Clippinger, who teaches Dance Anatomy and Kinesiology at UCLA. In addition to Pilates, Lara is a very accomplished dancer and she attended the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music and was a Cheerleader for the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals.

After suffering with back and knee injuries from years of dance, Lara found a way to heal her severe injuries as well as to stay in shape. In 2004 one of her dance teachers suggested she try Pilates. She fell in love with it so much she decided to become an instructor so she could help others also heal their painful ailments through Pilates.

Lara received her Pilates certification through the Body Arts and Science Institute (BASI) studying directly under Rael Isocowitz the President and founder of BASI, Rael is world renowned for his knowledge of the body and the pilates method. She has also been studying how the body works and why all of us suffer from setbacks due to everyday wear and tear on our bodies, as well as the problems caused by inactivity. One of the reason she loves Pilates so much is that Pilates can help everyone stay stronger. Lara has been teaching a range of clients from healthy athletes, to the elderly who suffer from severe handicaps.

She is always expanding her knowledge of new Pilates movements as well as how to truly heal ourselves with continuing education workshops. Lara is also a practicing Reiki Master, she uses her knowledge of the mind, body, spirit and the way the human body moves to help clients walk a bit straighter, breathe easi

Gino Caccavale | Founder and Director of ReZist Group Exercise


Gino Caccavale is a former Police Academy drill instructor, Corrections Officer and Bounty Hunter with more than 25 years of fitness industry experience. At 50 years old he has amassed countless awards as a bodybuilder, physique competitor, Mr. Connecticut title and winner of the “The American Gladiator” competition.

Gino is an IFBB Physique Pro, writer and technical consultant for Muscle & Fitness Magazine and a renowned celebrity trainer who has worked with such stars as Carmen Electra, the WWE Divas and many more. His passion is to share his knowledge and experience to transform bodies and help others feel fit and live strong and happy lives. After his 2nd place finish in “America’s Top Trainer” contest, he created Rezist, a workout that combines cardiovascular exercise and resistance training to help you achieve your fitness goals in just 30 minutes. Now becoming the hottest new workout trend, Rezist has been featured on Fox 5, NBC, WPIX 11, Glamour magazine, Huffington Post, and has been named top workout of 2015 by Hollywood Life Magazine. He now travels the country spreading Rezist and preaching his message of the importance of resistance training. He also devotes his spare time to volunteering for the Special Olympics, a cause true and dear to his heart.

Tom Kruszewski | NCEP Instructor

Tom is an NCEP Certified Personal Trainer and instructor. He is also certified by NASM. Tom is a native of Michigan where he excelled in ice hockey and track and field through college. He continues both recreationally today.

In Michigan, Tom started a personal training program at a high end country club. Now residing in Los Angeles, he trains at a private tennis and fitness club. Tom is a very a social person, who loves to educate. Whether it be his personal clients or future trainers he teaches, he commits himself to making sure they succeed.

James Chang | NCEP Instructor

James has his BS in Kinesiology from San Jose State University and is certified as a Personal Trainer by the National College of Exercise Professionals (NCEP), as well as NASM and ACSM.

James first entered the Fitness Industry about 13 years ago, and at the time, he was working retail and not doing much in college. James decided he was going to enroll into the OCS program in the Marine Corps at San Jose State University. He then realized that he needed to get himself into shape if he was to embark on the journey. Being that finances were tight James decided to apply at a local 24 hour fitness as a front desk employee and the next day the fitness manager called and asked if he would like to be a trainer. James jumped on the opportunity and never looked back. James declared his major as Kinesiology at San Jose State University and graduated in 2004. During his time as a trainer he has earned credentials from NCEP, ACSM, NASM, and TRX. James has stayed in the industry for one reason: Helping others acheive their goals. "We as trainers work in a unique industry where we utilize constantly SERVICE, SALES and SCIENCE." James feels that it is a true blessing to be with the job and opportunites that we have working in the health indursty to continue to provide excellent service with better knowledge. James anticipates that our field will contiue to grow with more fitness professionals as we continue to certify better trainers through NCEP. Along with his work as an Instructor for NCEP, James is also a Fitness Manager for Crunch Fitness in San Mateo, CA.

George J Cuevas Jr. | NCEP Instructor

George is a Fitness & Lifestyle Coach. Having operated under his own title since 2009, George has developed his path of Fitness into a Lifestyle.

Stemming from High School Athletics, George took his passion from the field to the class room, and Earned his BS Degree in Kinesiology. Along his way George has also gained sufficient knowledge in exercise tools and programs ranging from Kettlebells (HKC,RKC) TRX, Dynamic Neuromuscular Studies (DNS) and Functional Movement Screening (FMS) to Strength and Conditioning (NSCA-CPT). And of Course now NCEP. Where his dream of making an impact, to inspire others, is one step closer. His main motto: Be Fit For Life!

Biyanka Ekmekcioglu | NCEP Instructor

Biyanka Ekmekcioglu has been in the Health and Fitness industry for 23 years and has been interviewed for numerous shows and articles including KITV morning, the fitness documentary "Made in the Gym", Muscle Magazine's television show and Muscle Mag , The Honolulu Magazine and Mid Week Newspaper.

Biyanka has worked with exclusive fitness clubs around the USA and has trained elite clients in clubs like Gold's Gym, Sports Club/LA, Spectrum Clubs, Equinox. She has also produced the best-selling workout video "Fitness For Health" created in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.

Biyanka's academic background includes certifications from NCEP, NESTA, Fitness 4x4, Sports and Nutrition from UCLA, and BS in Kinesiology from the University of Hawaii.

Biyanka is currently an instructor for NCEP in Hawaii where she helps people pass the CPT course and begin their dreams of fitness and training.

LoJ'ai Marks | NCEP Instructor

Holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Arizona, LoJ’ai is a certified personal trainer, holistic nutritionist, and instructor through NCEP. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through NSCA as well as a certified yoga teacher.

As a personal trainer in the Los Angeles area, LoJ’ai is experienced in both group exercise (including fitness boot camps) and one-on-one training. Having an athletic background and a very health conscious upbringing, she has always held a premium on health and balance. LoJ’ai finds it to be immensely rewarding to change the lives of others through exercise and nutritional education. She likes to empower her clients in this manner so that they may possess the tools necessary to make conscious lifestyle decisions in promoting their health.

Some advice that LoJ’ai gives to those entering the personal training field is “Be open-minded and go into your career with the mindset of attaining continual growth. Be a perpetual learner. Read, research, be an astute observer, be creative, and have fun. Build sincere, intimate connections and always be passionate about your art.”

Glynis Ramirez | NCEP Instructor

Glynis has her BS in Community Health with Business Minor from the University of Northern California, and she is certified as a Personal Trainer by the National College of Exercise Professionals (NCEP) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Glynis is a 4-time USA National Powerlifting Champion, and a Silver and Bronze Medal International Champion. She is also certified as an NCEP-Rainbow Warrior Martial Arts MMA Trainer.
